Duct tape swimwear trend makes VERY Sєxy return in 2023
DUCT tape swimwear was all the rage last year. And in 2023, the ʙικιɴι style seems to be making a seriously Sєxy comeback on Instagram.
The Black Tape Project sH๏τ to fame when it unveiled its duct tape ʙικιɴιs last year.
Models caused a stir when they walked the painful-looking looks down the catwalk at Miami Swim Week.
And now, the extreme swimwear trend has made a dazzling return.
Stunning new pictures show that tape fashion looks aren’t going anywhere in 2023.
The Black Tape Project recently unveiled some of its new duct tape designs.
In eye-popping images, model Alexis Michaud flaunts her body in the sticky swimwear.
Metallic tape was cut into geometric shapes, before being placed in a halter-like pattern on her torso.
Bands of the unconventional fabric were also wound around her arms to create stylish cuffs.
Snaps of Alexis have attracted a lot of attention on Instagram.
A picture of the LA-based bombshell modelling on a deckchair has racked up 2,900 likes on the social media platform.
Many also took the time to leave a comment, with one fan gushing: “This is so gorgeous.”
Another said: “Omg this tape is everything.”
A third added: “I want to do this SO badly.”
While many respond to the designs in a positive manner, some think removing the duct tape would be excruciating.
One Instagram user asked: “What does it feel like to remove it?”
A second admitted: “I want to see women’s faces when the tape starts coming off.”
Another simply said: “Looks painful.”
The quirky trend is the brain child of Joel Alvarez, who has become known as “The King of Tape”.
When he was working as a pH๏τographer, he was inspired by the suggestion of one of his models.
On his website, he writes: “One day in 2008 I was a rookie pH๏τographer who was working with a model that suggested I use electrical tape her for the last look.
“I honestly had no idea why she would want this but to make her happy I attempted to use this tape as wardrobe.
“Essentially I just wrapped her in black electrical tape! Mind you she looked like two Christmas hams wrapped in rubber bands when I was done! (I’d never show you these images!)
“However, it sparked an idea in my head to develop this idea.”
